Crochet Baby Fox Hat

I made this for my future nephew coming in March! I believe this is more for newborns but it does have quite a bit of stretch. I jammed about five different patterns into one plus my own innovation so if there are any mistakes or problems let me know and I'll do my best to correct them. Good luck!

  1. Hi there, love your little fox hat the ears are the best I've seen so far! I attempted to make it last night but I'm still new to crocheting and can't figure out if I did it wrong or it is a mistake; in round 2 you have 20DC listed but with putting only 1dc on the first would it not be 21? or did you mean to put 2DC all around including the first one? Thanks so much!!

    1. Hi Kay! I'm quite the novice as well but I think how it works is that the two chain stitches at the beginning of each round make a sort of stitch so you only need to do 1 stitch in the first one to make it even with the others. I hope that makes sense. I'll be happy to help with anything and would love to see a picture when you finish!
      Thanks for commenting!

  2. I just finished the Orange part of the ears and am about to start the white part of the ears but as I look at the picture again I'm wondering if mine are right. Mine are very triangular and not rounded near the base of the ear... Will that change as I put the pieces together?

  3. Love this little creature. I'm a little confused as to why I am leaving a long thread at the top of the ear to sew onto beanie. Should this thread not be at the base of the ear for sewing on? Please help as I am rather novice as well.

  4. Does the ch2 count as the first dc in each row, my rows aren't adding up.
